Life Happens…

Life is taking  big turn now.  I’m not going to give a lot of details here because it’s a private matter.  Please don’t worry.  There isn’t a health crisis or anything like that.  I don’t know for sure how this is all going to shake out, but there is a very real possibility that I won’t be able to compete next summer.  I’m not accepting that as a reality at this point.  I’m going to continue to train as if it’s going to happen.  Worst case scenario?  I’ll do the contest prep and have a photo shoot.

Things are going to be tough.  I’m scared.  I’m worried.  But you know what?  I’ve obviously survived all the other scary life changes that came before this one.

I think I’m a positive person.  I can’t afford to dwell on negativity because that creates stress and stress makes cortisol and cortisol eats muscle.  Boooo cortisol!!!

My “not-so-secret weapon” for staying naively optimistic in the face of a difficulty is to get grateful.  Gratitude helps me put the crappy stuff in a box, lock it, and shove it into a corner of my consciousness.  I get grateful as fast as possible.  So that’s what I’m going to do now.

I’m grateful for…

God’s Love and Presence in my Life

Being this Woman’s Daughter

This guy.  ❤

My Guard Chihuahua, Peanut

Permanent Puppy, Tippy

Hanging With Corey at my Gym (Someday, I hope to meet her in person.)

My Students Rock

My Coach Rocks

My Friends Rock

New Pre-Workout Meal of Sweet Potatoes, Raisins, Walnuts, and Vanilla Whey (OMG it’s soooo goood!)

I think the best way to move forward is to accept the change as a necessary trial.  Second guessing everything, over processing everything – that won’t help.

“If you are depressed you are living in the past.

If you are anxious you are living in the future.

If you are at peace you are living in the present.”

  1. Great pics! I actually met Cory Everson at an open house for a Gold’s Gym several years ago. She gave a speech I still remember. She was the person that got me started in weightlifting so many years ago in her ESPN show Body’s In Motion. Keep up your great work!
